A landscape shaped by river, railway and time

Inland from Dunedin, the railway enters the Taieri Gorge.

Here, the railway follows a route through steep terrain, travelling through tunnels and across historic bridges and viaducts as it makes its way towards Pukerangi.

For much of the journey, rail provides a perspective of the landscape that cannot be experienced from the road.
